The 2025 Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 126000 is about as simple as a modern Rolex gets, which is exactly why it works so well. Rolex introduced this generation of the Oyster Perpetual 36 in 2020, bringing back the classic 36mm size with a cleaner case, domed bezel, and a lineup of unusually colorful lacquered dials. The green immediately became one of the standouts. There is no date, rotating bezel, GMT hand, or chronograph to distract you here. It is just hours, minutes, seconds, and a really good green dial inside one of the most traditional case sizes Rolex has ever made.

The green dial is lacquered rather than sunburst, giving it a rich, saturated color that can look considerably different depending on the lighting. Rolex pairs it with applied hour markers and hands in 18k white gold, filled with Chromalight for nighttime visibility. Inside is the automatic caliber 3230, the same modern movement architecture Rolex uses across several of its no-date watches. You get the Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, approximately 70 hours of power reserve, and Rolex's Superlative Chronometer standard of -2/+2 seconds per day after casing. It is a lot of movement for a watch whose entire personality is basically, “Here is the time.”

The best part of the 126000 is still the 36mm case. It is big enough to feel completely contemporary but small enough to retain the proportions that made Rolex watches so good in the first place. You get 100 meters of water resistance, a sapphire crystal, solid-link Oyster bracelet, Oysterclasp, and the 5mm Easylink extension, so there is very little you need to think about when actually wearing it. The green dial gives an otherwise incredibly straightforward watch just enough personality, and unlike some of the louder Oyster Perpetual colors, it still feels distinctly Rolex. No nickname needed, no complicated backstory, no pretending it was designed for an expedition. It's just a really good green Rolex you can wear every day.

Brand History

Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, before moving to Geneva in 1919 to be closer to the heart of Swiss watchmaking. From the start, Wilsdorf envisioned a wristwatch that was not only elegant, but also precise and reliable—an ambitious goal at a time when pocket watches dominated. Rolex went on to pioneer key innovations in horology, including the first officially certified chronometer wristwatch, the Oyster case (the world’s first waterproof wristwatch), and the Perpetual rotor—the self-winding mechanism that became the standard for modern automatic watches. These technical breakthroughs laid the foundation for Rolex’s enduring reputation for rugged luxury and mechanical excellence.

Today, Rolex is arguably the most recognized name in watches, with models like the Submariner, Daytona, Datejust, and GMT-Master becoming cultural icons in their own right. Whether tied to deep-sea exploration, motorsport, aviation, or mountain summits, each model reflects the brand’s commitment to performance and precision under extreme conditions. The brand’s status is bolstered by its unmatched consistency in design, rigorous in-house testing, and long-standing associations with exploration, sport, and achievement. For collectors and enthusiasts, Rolex represents more than a timepiece—it’s a benchmark of mechanical reliability, timeless design, and global prestige.
